Main motif here at this painting as the title says is Aspendos (Antalya – Turkey) or ruins of Byzantine Basilica in Aspendos. Last year we have been at a vacation in Turkey in Kusadasi, and one of probable next vacation spot is close to Aspendos.
In Turkey, there are many ancient ruins, and one of my favorite artist is Caspar David Friedrich, someone would say the most romantic painter of all romanticism painters, and on his paintings there are usually ruins of Gothic cathedrals.
